Types of animation P1
Masking- the masking layer allows you to hide the layers that you want so that you only see the layers which are not hidden even though the layer will still be there. This makes your work easier to complete because you can just work on one thing at a time and not have lots of images everywhere. Masking also works where you put a layer on top of another layer and you might still be able to see part of the image behind.
Movement- how a movement is created by lots of images rapidly displaying in a sequence to create an illusion of an image. There are many ways of presenting an animation and some of the most common ways are motion picture and video program.
Morphing-is where a image gradually gets turned into another image this is to create different types of characters and this is used to create advanced animations. Morphing is used in games when you want to change a different device into something else.
Uses of animation P2
Advertising– adverts use animations in things like car adverts and this is to show how the car can be morphed into another image.
Creative art– you can use Photoshop to create a detailed image that you want and then put it into flash to make it an animation. You can use digital special effects to make a good animation.
Entertainment– animations are used in TV shows and adverts and this allows the shows to be a bit more creative and unique because they can be change.
Education– schools use animations for educational videos and animations can create characters that the kids can relate to. bbc bitesize use animations in things like their games.
Simulations (military, training, architecture)- animations are used for the military and they can use these animations to get a better look of how it will look when you travel to a certain place.
Scientific visualisation- it is a way to create animations using computer graphics with mathematical methods. It is a way to process graphically real and simulated scientific data. to make the animations look as real as possible.
Animation software tools P4
Frames- you use frames in your animations to help you to make sure where you want the animation to move to and how long it will take to move there. When you are using the frames you need to know when you want you animation to move and how many frames you want the animation to use.
Layers- you use layers to separate your images up so that you don't get messed up with the images and your images don't clash together. So this means you will be able to move one image at a time whereas it might be hard if all the images are in the same layer. You can also rename all of your layers so that you do not get confused which layer gos to which image.
Motion tweening- this is a feature of tweening and this feature allows you to create animations and also allows you to create morphing animations. When you are using morphing in motion tweening you are only able to morph a few shapes together.
Symbols- you can use symbols throughout your work and you can even use the symbols in later work that you do. A symbols allows an object to be able to motion tween. Once you have created a symbol you automatically get the symbol in your library and you will be able to use the symbol whenever you want throughout your document.
Libraries- in the library you can save and put any images into it, this means that you can use these images whenever you want. You can store large amounts of images in the library and you can also rename them so that you know which one is which when you need to get the image fast.
Describing advantages/disadvantages of animation formats P3
GIF's advantages and disadvantages
Advantage
- small file size
- GIF supports transparent backgrounds
- loads fast
- maximum color palette of 256 colors
- no way to edit the image after it has been coded into an actual GIF
- cannot add sound
GIF-
Graphics Interchange Format and you can create GIF images by using flash and you can use GIF images to promote games and the GIF image repeats as it goes around again. You can be very creative in what you are designing and also a GIF image is normally a very small size of memory to save. You can make good banners which repeat which can be good to promote your website.
Dynamic HTML-
This refers to web pages but when you are getting more views on your web page the content will change each time. Each website can change if you are somewhere different in the world.
Flash-
you can make animations and GIF's in flash. In flash you can make them quicker and easier that what you could in Maya and other types of software. If you want to create simple and creative ideas fast then it is better to use flash because it is easier to use. Whereas if you want a better finishing product then you want to use Maya. You can make good GIF images in flash.
Shock-wave-
Is a multimedia software tool which is used to create animations and make web pages have more creativity to it. also Adobe allows applications to be published on the internet through the web browser.
- · It is used in multimedia and this is a vector image
- · This is a flash format where you can create animations. This is where you can save and display animations as a GIF image
-
- File type can be widely used for any type of browser but not documents.
- Someone cannot play an SWF video unless it has Macromedia Flash installed on the computer.
Quicktime-
quicktime is a multimedia product which has a playback which uses apple. Quicktime supports most encoding formats including JPEG and MPEG.
- quicktime is free to download
- movie playback is high quality
- does not support most of the file formats
- takes a long time for videos to buffer
Realplayer- advantage is that it plays formats that other formats may not play and it will play the formates very well. some of the files that it includes that it runs is RM and RMVB files.
Disadvantage is that you have to have a fast working computer in order for the program to run smoothly otherwise if you have you don't have a good enough computer then the format will run very slow. And there are better formats which will run fast and more smoothly with whatever computer you have.
Silverlight- advantages is with silverlight you get cross platform where almost all browser are on mac and windows. Silverlight is just a 1MB download and can use windows xp and higher. Silverlight can also be a lot more secure than other formats.
Disadvantage is that silverlight can be very hard to learn if you are new to it and do not have very much skill in using these sort of formats. more people will use flash over this program and also flash can be cross platformed unlike silverlight.
P5
Email attachments- when you are trying to send an email you can also add an attachment such as a word document or a picture as well as other things and then the person who receives the email will be able to open the attachment and read whatever is on there. Also most files will be up to 100MB or lower. Some things might need compressing because they are too big and these are things such as animation.
E-cards- This stands for electronic card and this is basically a type of greeting card that is sent through the web to other people. You can create these though websites and then you can send them to people through your email. E-cards are in an animation format and they are designed so that they will not take up a lot of space and are sent over the internet.
Output devices- An output device is a thing like a printer or a scanner and the printer can be used to print out high quality images and doing this means that it will be using alot of colour this might mean that it will take longer in order for the printer to print out the image. A monitor is also another type of output device and it can be used for displaying animations on the screen by using flash. You can also put your animation onto your website and then other people can see it on their monitors. You might need to have flash and java installed so that they play as well as possible.
Mobile devices- mobile devices don't have the same sort of compatibility as what a computer does have and this is why when you have completed your website most people will develop it so that it is compatible with the mobile version as well as possible. It is sometimes hard to navigate on your phone so it is best that you develop it as well as possible so that it is easier to use. When you are navigating a site on your mobile then you will be able to enlarge your screen and you will also be able to scroll over.
Persistence of vision M1
Persistence of vision is the phenomenon of the eye in which you see an afterimage which is said that you see it for a twenty-fifth of a second. this means that most of what we are seeing is happening a twenty- fifth of a second before we are seeing and it is a blend of what is happening at the time. It is rapidly displaying what you are seeing. Our eyes scan the image and process the image to create a meaning for the image in our minds. You can mostly see persistence of vision when you are watching television your eyes are constantly scanning through the images and flickering then past and producing images. Also with persistence of vision you see an image that appears that it is moving but this is because the images are moving so fast that the images almost look like they are combining together and when this happens they can make it look like the image is moving.
Comparing the differences between blender, Flash and Maya
Flash
I would prefer to use flash because in flash you are able to
create animations much faster and they are also very much easier to create on
flash. This is a great way to create animations and it is relatively easier to
create the animations that it is to try and create animations on Maya even
though the animations on Maya may be more complex. Flash is not as advanced as Maya and blender but if you want to create quick and simple animations fast then it is easier to create them in flash. If you are new to creating animations then it is better if you start of creating the animations in flash. Flash can be also one of the most effective ways if you want to create flash banners and logos because flash uses some good design tools and you can use them in your banner to give it a better effect.
Maya
Maya is 3D animation software where you can create 3D
animations and modelling the animations to what you like, this is also very
creative and professional. Maya is far more advanced in create animations than what flash is. The animations that you can create on Maya can look more realistic and almost real life if you put enough work in the animation. You can also put a lot more detail into the things like the characters legs and the movement looks more realistic.
Blender
With blender you can make 3D shapes and images. This is a
very creative site where you can make the most imaginable things you like. You
can also make 2D shapes as well as 3D but it is a bit more complicated to make
a 3D shape. Blender is very much like Maya and is also another very professional way of creating animations.
Depending on my project I would use flash because it is an easier way to create animations and is great for people who are starting off. I would also use flash because you can create quick and easy animations which look professional. And for more advanced projects I would use Maya and Blender.
